ipad problems
« on: April 26, 2013, 03:53:58 PM »
Maybe someone has some idea here. I have two problems. I haven't used my ipad for a while. So I went to the app store to update my apps. It asked for the password, which I entered (I use it all the time on my iphone) and it kept coming back that it's wrong! A second thing. My version is 4.something. I wanted to upgrade to the newest version (5? 6?) but I can't even search and find the upgrade, just things like upgrade tips. Then if I ever find it, I won't have the password working. I called apple and they want $19 for each conversation! Any help would be appreciated. I'll check for answers after Shabbos. Thanks. Gut Shabbos.

to update ios over the air, you must be on ios 5.0 or later.. Otherwise you may update by connecting to Itunes on comp..

So last night I connected to Itunes. Finally figured out how to sync my apps from the ipad to the pc and then I upgraded. The upgrade wiped everything out and then resynced. I got back on and now it understands my password and is fully updated. Thanks for all your help. And those guys on the other thread that recommended MIFI, thanks as well. Got it from ATT and it works beautifully. The real test will be at the convention in PA I'm going to IYH Wednesday. You gotta love this forum! Can't wait to see Dan in BP when I get back from the convention!

Yes. Connect to iTunes. Boot into recovery mode. Try those.

If find my iPhone is on, then that won't work.
If find my iPhone is on, you can't wipe it without the password.

Recovery mode works even when it's on. iTunes won't.

Perhaps I'm mistaken. I think I've done it. Needed to download the iOS and reflash it in DFU.

As mentioned, iPhone can be wiped even if "Find My iPhone" is enabled.  However, it will almost always still have iCloud activation lock - https://www.icloud.com/activationlock/ .  (that can be taken care of as well for some $$)

Thank you all for responding, so I restored the iPad in recovery mode, but now I'm stuck with the iCloud activation lock....

This is a returned item still waiting for the buyer to remove it from his iCloud but no answer so far....

Who can remove the activation lock and how much does it cost?

My iPad, I think it's an iPad 2, around 3-4 yrs old, just stopped recharging. I tried using different rechargers and it doesn't seem to help much. Is this just normal  for a device this old? Does anyone know what the problem could be? Is it worth it to try and fix it or should I just give up and start looking for a new one?

It's possible that the charging port has too much lint/dust. Take it to an Apple Store to be cleaned before giving up.

On a related product, I have the iPod classic 160gb just stopped working suddenly, it has a red X in a circle and doesn't do anything, been in the drawer for 2 years now, anything can be done or trash it ?
