They have a good pastry chef and the rest of the food is from Indian cooks.

Shabbes in singapore, is nothing special to say it in a nice way... they are not very welcoming there and the food is ok at best...
Just was shabbes in Hkg, it's like 5 star and 1 star comapared...

The food definitely has room to improve but is the davening really worse than Kehilat Zion?

I've never been to KZ but I found the davening torturous and the shabbos food subpar.
But everyone seemed very welcoming to me.

I gave a nice donation and was grateful for the hospitality but the food is pretty awful. Much better during the week at the rest.

And yes, easily the most painful davening of my life. The bochurim there show up for the begning and then go back to sleep for 2 hours in the middle and come back for Mussaf.

Grateful for what? The shabbes meals have a fixed charge in singapore, that I paid, so its like going to a restaurant

I sat friday night on the same table like the rabbi and he barely looked at me, was like he just wanted to go home, also the people from the community were not major friendly.... the food was average and the atmosphere nothing special

let me rephrase. Yes its nice they arrange meals at cost or near cost price, but that doesnt change anything about how i felt there.

It's not a Chabad house.  They hired a rabbi to run a sephardic shul who happens to be chabad.
