I need to get in on this milts and shallots, so thinking of planning a one day trip with my 2 kids (ages 3 and 4).

Need to stay in a hyatt. Plan on arriving Sunday having lunch at milts. Then I need a good activity which will be followed by dinner at shallots.

The next morning we'll do lunch by a dairy place (looking for a recommendation as well) maybe even an activity for Monday morning.

Which hyatt should I pick. Want to be close to all the places that I'm going as I will be unerring. In a perfect world I would pick the park hyatt but is it the best location out of all the hyatts?
Depending on when this Sunday is, Navy Pier is right at the edge of downtown. There's a children's museum there and other fun things to do. Any hotel downtown will be approximately 15 minutes from Milts and about 25 from shallots. Times vary with traffic.
Memories last forever, make them while you can.

eh I take my kids all the time to nice restaurants. Just wanna try the food. I know it's not easy but that's my best option
If you say so.
Personally I'd go with my wife as a day trip, fly out in the morning, eat at Milt's for lunch, take a segway tour, eat at Shallot's for dinner, and fly back.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Nothing to do with romantic, but personally I don't find it enjoyable to go out and eat $30 sushi rolls and $100 steaks with my kids. It's one thing if I'm there anyway, but if the point is the going out to a fancy restaurant then like I said,
maybe AS2 will watch my kids in exchange for some free milts  ;)

Segway tour is a real bust when it's cold, especially because you're right off the lake. It's a terrific activity though!

I think a Segway tour might be a bit much for the kids... You can rent 4 person bikes at Navy Pier, take a boat ride, children's museum. Millennium Park is walking distance from many hotels as well, and there is some fun things to do there too. All depends on what type of thing you are looking for.

Lol I was piggybacking on your mentality, when there's good food involved, all other circumstances make no difference

So I'd recommend Navy Pier, lots to do, if you want, but you can also just walk up and down the Pier and it cost nothing.

I disagree with Dan here, if you don't mind having your kids there, and you aren't looking for a romantic dinner, just take them with. I used to spend way too much time at shallots, and can tell you I've seen a kid or 2 there before. Just sit in the bar area.

perhaps the reason has nothing to do with the food.
