Is this issue specific to the kosher scene or is there the same issue with non-kosher restaurants? @ChaimMoskowitz ?

This should answer that question.  ;)
We went to Lawry's that is famous for the PR. DW ordered salmon and it was just OK. The moral of the story is ...  :)
PR = Prime Rib
I just found a new supply of forks!

For the record: The best way to be disappointed by a restaurant is to go in with high expectations.

naw you guys arent in to wine, it would be a waste ;) we did a 45 course dinner by him last year.. rawr!

Actually I invited JJ to a hajdu fest I did in miami, he declined. We cooked:

50 LBS 3 BONE RIBS smoked

25 lbs brisket smoked

25 lbs corned beef, sous vided

25 lbs deckel brined to pastrami smoked

25 lbs french roast brined to pastrami sous vided

30 lbs drummets

mashed potatos, cole slaw 2 ways, a pot of chilli about 5 gallons.

And about 25 wines

And the price was less than my mother effig burger at shallots

@Dan Why do they sell burgers if they are crap? why dont they just knock them off the menu? the fact that they do sell them and based on their reputation, I have every right to expect to get an amazing product.

I should try ken's dinner

Get a burger, even if you're dying for steak.  If you're dying for steak, go back to shallots you idiot.

The same reason that Izzy's sells burgers, harbour grill sells short ribs, and Fuego sells steak.
So Jews have what to kvetch about.

seriously even the best restaurants don't make everything good. That is why we read reviews to see what is good in what restaurant and what to stay away from in each restaurant. Also just because you didn't like the burger doesn't mean no one likes the burger. There are other people out there who might like it. Imagine if a restaurant only served the things that they made amazing. Most restaurants would have one or 2 things on their menu.
