Same story, different day/person.

Lufthansa thinks our bags may have been left in Paris. We filed a claim for the lost baggage at the airport.

Does anyone know the ins and outs of the SP's lost baggage insurance? On award tickets where taxes were paid with SP?

How much can I spend, if anything, and get reimbursed?

(I'm asking specific to Chase SP.)

(Bottom line, Chase's coverage seems paltry. It seems all award taxes should be paid with AMEX... a fact I had known about other AMEX insurances, but not this one. You live you learn: anything that may require warranty, insurance, return protection etc goes on AMEX :) )

...and I got lucky.

I put the majority of the taxes on my SPG  ;D

Can't see why I can't go to AmEx now.

However, after googling, I don't see the basic AmEx warranty/insurance for delayed baggage, only lost baggage. Am I just not finding it, or does it not exist?

Though this is a bit OT for a Chase Insurance thread, it seems that AmEx provides protection if your luggage is lost, stolen or damaged, but does not offer protection for delayed luggage unless you purchase Premium Baggage Protection.

So, unless I'm missing something, Chase seems to actually be better in this regard...

As a general rule anytime I am booking a ticket that includes stop overs especially when going international I pay the $9.99 it has really come in handy.

Probably not a bad practice... especially when making 55 min int'l connections   :)
