Yes. They have to order it from Dini's. The hotel was one of the nicest city hotels I've been in.
Awesome! God willing I'll be staying there shortly for a 2 day trip. Do you know if any of the major local attractions require advance ticket purchase (e.g. Summer palace or Forbidden City)? Also, I emailed the driver/guide that was recommended in an earlier post for the great wall. Do you think a guide is also necessary for the Beijing?

Did you read my TR? I'd recommend the tour I did, especially the guide I had, though that's not guaranteed. Depends on the season you go. In winter it's low season so no advance tickets are necessary.

I am planning a trip to Beijing and was wondering if anyone can comment on the Nuo Hotel, apparently a 5 star with a 10 minute walk to Dini's/Chabad current location.

I have a 9hr stopover in Beijing from 3.30p-1am.
Any ideas of what to do? Was thinking of doing the wall but I reckon it'll be too dark by the time we get out of the airport to be worth it

It depends on the time of year. Now it will be dark around 5:30p so that's not enough time. The imperial Palace is probably closed as well, but Tiananmen Square could be open (there's security so you can't just walk in). Maybe the markets are open? Honestly that not the best time of day to visit. Keep in mind the traffic is insane especially at rush hour. Your return trip to the airport should be quite traffic free though.

Ye. realized that it ain't the best time of day. We're traveling thru in early Jan....but that's the routing we have on air china, so we're kinda stuck with this anyway....i guess we'll just check out the markets and go to dini's for food

That's probably your best bet. Also be prepared for really long customs lines with no J/F priority lines for customs when leaving PEK on CA.

I booked and successfully flew on Air China via Aeroplan last January. No issues.

I was there almost a year ago exactly, but don't have plans to be there this year. Why?

It's a square. It's not like they really "close". Regardless, it isn't worth going all the way from the airport to the city just to see a square.

It has security to get in and barricades and tons of cameras around it preventing people from entering at will. When security closes, the square closes.

Thanks to the AC glitch, DW and I are planning a week in China in January.  I would love everyone's advice and suggestions.  Here is a proposed itinerary:

BOS-YYZ-PEK: arrive Wednesday 5pm.
PEK-PVG: Wednesday evening
Thursday all day in PVG.
Friday noon: PVG-HKG
Shabbat and all day Sunday in HKG
Monday afternoon: HKG-PEK
All day Tuesday and (almost) all day Wednesday in PEK
Wednesday evening: PEK-YYZ-BOS

How does that sound, as far as distributing our time in the three cities?
