TD Bank - No ATM fees - even the ones other banks charge you!

I'd just like to share something with everyone. For years I had a WAMU account and took money out every week. During that time, I spent about $1.50 a week taking out money. I recently opened a TD bank account in CT, and they offer an amazing promo that can't be beat! You can take out money wherever you are in the world, and not pay a penny in ATM fees. Unlimited! I took out from some hick ATM machine and it cost $5 to take out money, but on my next statement there was a $5 credit. It's amazing to see how much you save...it's usually over $20 a month for me. I don't know if the TD in Manahattan offers this also but you can check.

Here's the kicker though. I always disliked TD because there is no branch in the other 3 places I need one...namely Brooklyn, Lakewood, and Chicago. But now they are merging with Commerce and the ATM card will still be free (I don't know when they will cancel the promo, maybe when your ATM card expires?), and now I have a ton more branches to be able to go to to deposit and withdraw money besides in CT. Another cool thing that most banks probably offer but no one knows about, is that you can get envelopes from them (I think they're even stamped already) and mail in a check along with a deposit slip and they will deposit it into your account.

Another good thing is that they only charge 1% for international transactions which is about the lowest you can get (some people have reported getting 0% but that sounds a little fishy).

Either way, this is something good to take advantage of. I guess the only thing holding people back is having an address in CT.

I have Citibank and get 5 free non-citi ATM transaction refunds per month, plus get thank you points for having the account.

Interesting. But unlimited free is slightly better than 5 free. What's your international surcharge?

Commerce Gives Free Withdrawls also with a minimum in the account don't remember how much

Beginning April 1, the bank will refund to its customers ATM surcharges that are assessed at any non-Commerce ATM. Refunds will automatically be credited to customer personal checking accounts, any month that the customer maintains a $2,500 minimum daily balance. Commerce will waive the minimum daily balance provision for the first month for new checking account customers. There is no maximum refund amount.

It seems you need at least $2,500 in the account. Many banks do this. TD does it with no minimum balance.

Indeed I see it here as well. You must have $2,500 in the account to benefit from this.

Citi bank has atms in every 7 11 and there are those everywere

citi & 711 are the way to go though dono about outta us but btw there is a bank on yaffo that doesn't charge citi customers and u can take out dollars or shekel

I took out dollars to shekel many times in israel with my commerce bank card and no bank in israel charged me a fee. I think that the banks in israel don't have any fees. so to commerce did not charge any fees for international withdrawl. plus i got a better rate then any of the money changers

The fees are usually built into the lower-than-average exchange rate that the ATM's give you (similar to what happens when you use your credit card.)

Just the opposite.
All the banks in Israel have fees.
They even charge fees to take out or deposit money when you have an account at that bank.
At the teller or ATM!!.
Its just different there.

I did live israel for a while and i made withdrawls at least once a week and never was i charged a fee. the only time you get charged is if you have for example an account in Bank Leumi and you withdraw in Bank Hapoalim your bank (Bank Leumi) will charge you not the other bank. if a bank other than yours wants to charge you, it would have to state so on the atm. and most atm's do not charge.
