Best <$300 phone - replacing an iPhone

Looking to replace an iPhone 4, what are my best options for around $300?

S3 mini? HTC something?

Any help greatly appreciated.. been using iPhones til now..

if you have an upgrade, you can prob get it under 300!

From how he asked I assumed he didn't have an upgrade available. And you can't get a $300 HTC One.

Should have been more clear. I need an unlocked phone to be used overseas. iPhone was great but got lost/stolen.. I'm willing to go a little higher if necessary - it's for my wife..
