HT: FT

Citi in NY pulls from either Equifax or Experian or both. YMMV even by the same person.

If you live in NJ or NY, you should freeze your Experian. They will only pull Equifax then. Otherwise, YMMV.

FOR MORE INFO, READ FT'S WIKI - IT IS PHENOMENAL, FT WIKI

Quote from the above mentioned FT WIKI:
For the most part, freezing Experian, or another bureau, will not cause Citi to pull a different bureau. They will almost certainly require you to unfreeze the bureau they wish to pull or deny your application. Some people have been successful providing the PIN but others have not. Mostly, freezing a credit bureau in an attempt to force Citi to pull a different one seems to waste time, money, and effort for little result. But YMMV.

DDF data points (As of 10/2015)
NY- pulls both EQ/EX, can still get instant approval with EX frozen
CA, OH, PA, TX- ONLY EX. Citi will refuse to pull other bureau

Benefits:..
New no forex fees starting Nov.'15

From FT Wiki:"Important exception: If you receive a Platinum World MC which is later converted to a World Elite MC (as indicated on the back of the card), the opening of that card will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule. This is true not only for conversions in early 2015, but also for those in more recent months.
Note: It makes no difference when (or whether) you activate the World Elite card. If you have the WE card in hand, then the conversion on Citi's books is already complete. There is nothing magical about activating it.
There are a few reports that some Gold World MC are being converted to Gold World Elite MC and that will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule."
UPDATE: As of 02/18/2016 (for applications after 02/09/2016), the W>WE loophole may be dead.

It was also not 3 of the same card. The first card was matched to this offer.
Where are you getting this from? There's no mention of matching with that users experience. Seems like pretty straight forward process.

Anyone have experience HUCAing after this happening?
Any advice?

So the second rep told me I was declined b/c I had applied for a card in February (around 5 weeks ago), and they can't approve another card within this time period.

I'll HUCA again tomorrow.

Ouch. First step in HUCA is always keep notes of who you spoke to.

2nd example of the alleged 60 day rule not applying to this this.

His first app was 12/30, more than 60 days ago.
What's your first example?
(I'm not saying it's impossible but would love to see a real case.. this one isn't.)

So the second rep told me I was declined b/c I had applied for a card in February (around 5 weeks ago), and they can't approve another card within this time period.

I'll HUCA again tomorrow.

Had same answer given to me like 15 times, and this is what ended up happening

Wow!

Truly amazing.

After telling citi recon non stop that I need a 2nd Executive for different kind of spending, but nothing would move the needle,

I called back (just to give it one last shot) and told them that "not only do I need two cards for diff spending, but it actually needs to be the 'same kind' of card, and if they can't get me another one of the same I'll be forced to close the first card right now too (which was anyway on plan...), And I'll have to see what Chase or Amex has to offer"...

But even that didn't move the rep...
And she was very sorry, but couldn't do anything etc. and gave me the number where I can close the first one...

So I hung up thinking that that's it...

Until...

Until something amazing happened:

THE REP CALLED ME BACK FIVE MINUTES LATER!! Just to add my cell phone to the app and approve me for 8k "no questions asked"!!...

The power of... Citi's weakness!

Cool, I didn't realize that they have given you the same rejection reason.
Although, b/c I'm in Israel, they can't call me back, but it gives me hope to HUCA it a few more times.

Just called to close my first Citi Executive card. Retention department offered 5,000 bonus miles if I stay + a $100 statement credit if I maintain $1,500 in eligible charges in each of the next three billing cycles. I opted to close the account to recoup my annual fee, but may take such an offer on the next round or with my wife's card.

Dear

My name is.     and I am an analyst with American Airlines. One of my responsibilities is investigating possible instances of fraud, misrepresentation, and violations of the General AAdvantage® Program Conditions. Today, I’m writing you about your AAdvantage account #

We have reason to believe that mileage points reflected in your account summary violate the AAdvantage program conditions.  As a result, American Airlines has suspended your AAdvantage membership privileges and use of AA.com® in conjunction with your account – and may terminate your account as a result of our findings. We are in the process of completing the investigation into this matter, and I would like to hear the events as they occurred from your perspective. Please respond to this message by March 22, 2014 with complete and accurate information regarding the activity listed below:

Please provide proof of purchase and payment for the points earned in your account from January 2,2014  to present date associated with your Citi AAdvantage card purchases.

To protect and retain the integrity of the AAdvantage program, it is vital that firm action be taken as a result of any violation of the AAdvantage Program Conditions, whether intentional or not.  Failure to respond completely and accurately by March 22, 2014 will result in the termination of your AAdvantage membership and all its benefits, including all remaining AAdvantage miles in your account.

We hope to hear from you soon.

Happened numerous times to people who sold their miles.
Did he sell the miles to a broker and already got cash, or did he sell the ticket himself?

Who cares?  If it's booked for Saturday night that's before the end of the 22nd?
