Decided to push off creating a website for my business for now, but how would I go abt saving the domain name? As of now to seems like it still open? How much does it cost? And is it a one time fee or monthly/yearly?
You can just register the domain with GoDaddy or DreamHost or something. Should just be $5-$10 a year (as you're just paying for the domain, not for hosting). Unless it's a domain that's taken or that got put up for auction, then it'll cost more.
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

You can get promo codes to get it for $1-2 for the first year

Go daddy kis a scam , they bait you and rip you off the next year.

You can get the site for pennies the first year, but when it comes time to renew they jack up the prices.

You can always switch the next year.

just to be clear. I can buy a domain name for one year at the promotional price and then renew it the next year with a different company at their promotional rate? And continue jumping around like that every year? Even if I'm staying with one host all throughout?

I've never done it so I can't say for sure. It will be a pain, I'll tell you that much. And, some of these promotions might be for new domains only, not for transferred domains.

Has anyone done this?

IMO it's not worth the pain and hassle to save five bucks a year.

What does that mean? A lot of people showed interest but noone bought it? Does that mean I should quickly buy it before someone else does? Or does that just mean that they can tell from google searches that that name would be very popular, but not that people have showed interest in buying it?

You might want to think about getting a different but similar domain name.

Why??? Wouldn't that be a reason to davka buy that name, if it's expensive, it's prob cuz very popular. Isn't that the point of a website? To be popular and get a lot of traffic?

Well part of your job is to MAKE it popular and get traffic. But it depends how much $ you want to spend. I'm just saying that the price of the domain name doesn't necessarily correspond with how good of a name it is.

Domains are like real estate. Yes, you can buy a house in Detroit for $100 or www.noonewilleverrememberthenameofmywebsite.biz for $8.99. You can also buy a Manhattan penthouse or insurance.com for $35 million.

I've spent thousands on domains when I needed to. It could be a move you need to make.

True. But sometimes there is something close enough that's much cheaper. Not necessarily is it that a more expensive domain is better.
