Thanks for the quick response Yehoshua. Don't mean to get into kashrus politics but I thought the reason why people didn't hold by that hashgacha had more to do with chalav yisrael, pas yisrael, etc. Are there other issues people are concerned with? I'm asking because I'm going to be in some non Orthodox areas in the LA area and I thought Coffee Bean would be a good option to get actual food not just drinks. I'm not asking you to pasken but any insights would be appreciated.

No, it's not about CY or not. People who hold CY don't eat there and don't get their dairy food period. I'd say it's a good option in a non-kosher-food part of LA.

also, you'd be surprised - what part of LA?

The hechsher on the Coffee Bean stores is Kosher LA, which is not on the cRc list. Obviously, many people are fine with it in general, and there are more who are fine with it on a coffee bean where the underlying products are almost always under a "more reliable" Hechsher.

 In the case of coffee bean, the powders for drinks are all KSA, and much of the food is either prepackaged or the packaging is available upon request so the hechsher would be on the equipment and the products that don't have a seal/kosher symbol on them.

shaulyaakov- Thanks for the explanation so would getting a bagel and cream cheese be an issue if they're cutting the bagel with their knife. Also toasting a bagel?

thaber- I might go up to Six Flags which is in Valencia. Obviously I plan on bringing some food but it would be nice to have the option of being able to get a sandwich, bagel, drink etc from a local coffee bean in the area.

They are under Hashacha, so I don't understand how you would expect a stranger on the internet to answer such a detailed question for you.
