Which is why so many NYC-TLV economy seats are sold on PS, SU and TK (and to a slight lesser degree AZ).
Nobody is flying the extra hours here because of better service or better product. Anyone flying these airlines, are flying them primarily because they are much cheaper than the rest.
So do you expect LY to attract their clients by lowering prices when they are the ones who have significantly higher operating costs, due to their longer route?
And also many people (mostly Israelis, or elderly people) pay a premium for LY on the NYC-TLV route despite the fact that the product is inferior to DL and UA.

Most often LY is the cheapest non-stop option on this route, because they have the most available space on the route. UA and DL also fill most of their space from connections across the country while I believe that LY flights are filled mostly by passengers checking-in in NY.
