Got to gottleibs about 1230. Asked for cholent. Guy says, ok, go with other dude to see what they have left. So he taked me to back corner and shows me a sad looking metal container. And says "We only have white beans left--do you want that?". So I said no, and bought some kugel and left.
But then I still want cholent.
Trip report
So I go outside and ask the chassidim and chassidim-hangers-on where I can go to get cholent. So one says he doesn't know (
). And a hanger-on says "right here!" "None left" "no way" (he goes in, complains, and they "say no we showed him white beans and he didn't want it". So he comes out and snorts that I didn't want the cholent they had. And then tells me he doesn't know where else to go.
So, impressive patron loyalty, but unimpressive cholent for still early in the thurs night.
So I go to Grill on Lee (I knew I would, just wanted directions reall, or another good recommendation). And get some cholent. It comes with pickles and cole slaw on side.
Both things were pretty good.
