Just call a few companies and get quotes. Try flat rate, shleppers, oz, etc. I've heard dumbo is cheap.
IME there is no rhyme or reason to which company will be cheapest do just bring them all in
Life isn't about checking the boxes. Nobody cares.

How big of a job?  You can always go to a Home Depot and pick up some guys on the cheap.

Who did you end up using?

We used Oz. Overall it was fine. Priced out a few options and Oz was cheapest. Moved from a 2 bedroom apartment (2 flights to walk up and down when moving heavy furniture) to a house, and they showed up at about 9:15 am, and everything was moved in to the new house by 3 pm. They messed up with some of the boxes (didn't follow what was labeled on them), Oz gave me a $100 refund. It was about $950 total (before the $100 refund).

I wouldn't go with the cheapest necessarily. Since they usually charge by the hour, If they take more time then you will pay more anyway. Not to mention that some of the cheaper companies hire day workers who don't care and can damage your stuff or home.

I have used tufano in Inwood and been very happy.

We used Hannigan Sons when we moved 2 summers ago and we were very happy with them. At least one or two friends used them on our recommendation and they were satisfied as well. They're flat rate, so they'll come over to assess and give you a quote.
