Interesting TR's on FT
« on: August 06, 2013, 05:40:21 AM »
I figured that since the purpose of a TR is to help others plan their travels, it would be helpful to tap into the vast knowledge base in FT, but in the friendly recognizable confines of DDF.

First off. A TR about taking 30 biz and first class flights over the next 70 days. (I'm not even sure that PlatinumGuy or Superflyer can claim to have done that.)

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/trip-reports/1490232-trip-million-lifetimes-30-f-j-flights-around-world-69-days.html

And a TR about a Minsk visit that I really enjoyed. THe author has a great sense of humor, and good comedic timing to boot.

You have to realize that it's so much simpler for a non orthodox Jew to make such a trip--or any trip.

Of course. But the threads still give inspiration.
For example, reading various TRs on blogs about Slovania's natural beauty makes me want to visit.

Insanity, but good for them.
Frankly of late I've come to realize that frequent short trips are far more enjoyable than ultra-long trips.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Especially when there are kids to worry about.

But if I was their age (I am), without kids (I'm with), with time (I'm without), and spending money (I'm without), this sounds like something that would really be the experience of a lifetime.

Of course, they'll never be able to fly economy again...

True.  Though I was lucky enough to do 2 month-long trips before kids with memories that will last a lifetime though I'll be the first to admit that they ran a bit long.

Perhaps if you were actually able to eat legit local cuisine it would be another story though...

As well as eating the actual food on the planes rather than the packaged stuff.

I don't know if I enjoy seeing all the pix in TRs of the airline food or not. On one hand, I enjoy pictures of pretty food, but on the other hand, I can't eat it, even though I 'paid' for it.

Insanity
I take that back.
Without kids and without shabbos, kosher food requirements, taharas hamishpacha (Have fun with that one CV ;)), etc it's really not that crazy at all.  I'd probably have done it already in that situation.

It's just hard for me to think from that perspective.

Mashehu kazeh.
With your job and w/o all the req's you listed, you could be one of these types of ppl.
http://www.neverendingvoyage.com/

I'd trade all their places for CLE. Especially in the middle of January.
