I hear. But with all that, there are lots of places in Manhattan that aren't worth the extra spend. If you are going for the a "night out" I would either go really cheap or really high-end. The in between places in Manhattan are too expensive to be worth it.

true. but a middle of the road place like wolf and lamb might be a good option to catch dinner after a day in the city, not necessarily as a destination by itself.

I disagree, I had dinner at Wolf & Lamb in the city.

For a $150 meal that wasn't worth $150, I would've been happier going to J2 for $30.

Update on T-Fusion, went there tonite.
Started with a couple of drinks - the fusion martini - out of site and the pink cheesecake (yes, it tasted like cheesecake) - good, not out of site
Appetizers We both had the Chicken Crisps, as advertised in DD forums. Very good, with the hot mayonnaise as well. It didn't knock us off our feet, but was excellent.
Mains - We both had (boring people we are) the special which was a 8 oz fillet minion (not the place you daven). I asked for it butterflied and my wife asked for it medium to well done. My wife's came rare and had to be returned. Mine didn't seem butterflied, was mostly well done until the center that was red. Came with fries. Not 100% sure why it's so different then the 12 oz one for about the same price. When they asked for feedback, we gave it to them. Wouldn't if they didn't ask. For dessert we each had a drink called the milky way, excellent. Then the chocolate cake with ice cream on top. It was good, but my wife a better one by far.
Price with 18% gratuity = 200.46
Overall, very good meal, quiet, but there were only a few people there, nice looking place, nice presentations of the meals, friendly staff. They need to work on getting it right based on the customers request.

Because I'm strange and only like well done steaks. Last time I was there they butterflied it and made it all well done throughout and it was heaven. I know most chefs hate making a steak well done. I go through this all the time.

Ok, so whats Pittsburgh rare?

charred on the outside and  rare/medium on the inside
I'm hoping it'll combine the best of both worlds, charred flavor w/o being too dry

to request well done is bad enough, to request that the chef mutilate the steak is a whole different league. im surprised any chef fulfilled your request

I found that if they're really good at it the steak comes out great (for my taste of course). They always do a good job of it at T-Fusion and I got a great one at Wolf and Lamb as well. In fact, one of those two places are the ones that introduced me to butterflying. In any event, the whole issue is that the chef doesn't want to be embarrassed by producing a dry tasteless steak. Which is not what happens when I get it in this fashion. I knew I'd open a can of worms with my burnt steak requests. But, heh! That's how I like it.

i dont think thats the reason. imagine asking a chef to dice up an expensive steak and deep fry it. it goes against his values

Is there a difference taste-wise between Wolf n Lamb Brooklyn and Manhattan?

Thanks.

I asked, because I heard pretty good reviews about W&L but when I tried the one in Manhattan I was majorly disappointed.

Maybe we'll give the Brooklyn one another try!

What does everyone think about Basil?
My wife really wants to go there, is it any good? Worth traveling to Brooklyn for?

Good food, small portions, terrible service.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

its a pretty small place, so if it gets crowed and you traveled... (not sure where you're coming from though)

I only thing I had there that I didn't like at all was the salmon steak, everything else was very good especially the pesto pizza.
It is usually very crowded and its decently expensive
