Was there a few times. Pretty good food, nice variety. Prices not too bad. Nice restaurant and staff.
Good place for a date?

I don't necessarily agree on the crampiness (is that a real word?), but I do agree that it depends if you want to meet up with Flatbush folks.

I don't know where you're from or your budget, but Wolf and Lamb would be very nice - Flatbush or Glatt a la Carte in Boro Park ($$$)

Update on Hadar. First off, the food is still good. The service, however, is getting worse and worse every time I go there that I think I'll stay away at this point. I was there with my wife, some kids, some grandchildren for lunch. We made our order. Took forever and they brought it out piecemeal (which to me is a -100 for a restaurant) so that when my daughter finished her food (or almost) someone elses meal came out. Then, after everything, my wife said "Where's my salad?" That should have been easy and first. He says we didn't order it. The entire group heard the order. By the time he had it made we just took it home. My daughter asked for a piece of cake for my son's birthday, which they finally gave. Then when I went to pay, the owner made sure to tack on another $5. After all we went through. It's not the money. It's just the treatment. I guess they don't care because they're full. Anyway, just wanted to update.

Yup. They do a good job on their steaks. Service is friendly and professional without being overbearing.

Very good restaurant with large portions, decent prices and good service. It's usually pretty crowded so it can be tough to get in during busy times (No reservations). Would recommend the soups, salads and sandwiches (pastas are nothing to write home about). They also have good desserts and hot drinks. Enjoy!

Not terribly expensive, IIRC less than Glat a la Carte.

Pretty good food and large portions. Very cheap (Large breakfast $10).

Definitely the place to eat, but it's hard to get in between 12 and 2pm

And very nice staff. I eat there often. If you ask for something a little different than what is on the menu they will accommodate you, not like some other places, like Venezia!

We paid in the 80's (tax and tip included) for two steaks. They were very good. I had a skirt steak and my wife had a butterfly's steak. I don't think A la Carte comes close in price. Here it's definitely less.

FYI, Bagels and Greens on Coney Island Avenue is also really good. Can be crowded as well. Not the cheapest, though.
