Funny thing is I actually just learnt how to do it last week! I've seen videos of it a while back, just never actually learnt how to do it until now. And I never knew it's called an Ian's knot. But it still has the same problem of untying.

I don't know what you're doing, but ever since I switched to Ian's knot my laces rarely get untied, and if/when they do, retying is actually faster.

The round shoelaces that come with all dress shoes. They never stay tied for more than 5 minutes.

I've found that the thing to look for in dress laces is that they be cotton instead of poly. Some laces are waxed and those also stay better.

If it is kesher al gav kesher it is asur on shabbos. A regular shoelace single knot is aniva al gav kesher. It is not siomple that this can be called aniva. It may be but AYLOR.

I’ve found the illustrations explaining it a little too confusing. I’ve developed my own way of explaining it (and thinking about it as I tie it).

By it going through twice it has extra hold. I know that some do not consider it to be aniva and others do.
I've used it but typically make sure to have laces which tie well and the whole thing is unneeded. It is the same as tying the two bow method and putting it through twice.

After crossing the two loose loops intead of stcking either side through once you stick it through and then stick it through again. Hard to describe without diagrams, but try following the way I wrote and I think you woll see.

Make a loop with each end of the lace.  Make sure that the loose end of each loop faces a different direction (if one loose end faces you, make sure the other faces the other way). Then just pull the loops through each other. C’est tout!

Yiddishkeit is not a set of rules it is an entire way of life governing every single thing we do (רצה הקב"ה לזכות וכו') and there is nothig where halacha does not get involved.

Lets do this without the loops. Take the 2 strings, cross them and stick one through once and then a second time. That is what you are doing with the loops.
