I run the auctions for Simchas Torah.

I am trying to come up with funny/new things we could auction.

I.E. we auction off parking spaces etc..

Besides Aliyos etc, what do they auction at your shul on Simchas Torah?

In my yeshiva they sold the 'privilege' to clean up the dirty tissues in the bm after night seder

Not sure which was grosser. The fact that they sold it or that someone bought it. They also sold the right to clean up after shabbos meals which isnt as gross

Does it make sense to auction off the right to choose the topic of the rabbi's speech?

We do almost the same thing but for Musaf. The difference is if you give Musaf to someone and he doesn't want to daven, he has to double the bid and pass it on to the next guy.

they enforce other bids because it is the person bidding who pays normally but in this case they are forcing someone to do something he doesnt want to do and then they tell him he has to pay. what is making him pay- he didnt bid and wants no part of this "prank"
