is buying SPG points with new SPG card qualify for spending?, missing about 1800 to have the 92k for the united plus 7 nights, thinking to buy them on SPG site.
also does anyone know, the 7 night certificate will work on SPG property or just Marriott, is there anything in israel besides the Ritz in Hertzelia?
Thanks!!

No reason it shouldn't qualify for spend, it will only work on Marriott properties, not Ritz or SPG

Which is better for everyday non-bonus categories - SPG Or Freedom Unlimited? And if I plan on using these points 2+ years down the line does the answer change (meaning, now that SPG is becoming Marriot and other changes expected)? Thanks in advance.
If you are trying to get my attention/assistance and I'm not responding, please feel free to PM me. :)

It really depends on how you value each of those points. If you have a CSR than you're getting at least 2.25 cents per dollar on the FU but that could change over the next two years. SPG will definitely change in 2018 but you can convert them to 3x Marriott for now  to be safe. Basically I don't think anybody can tell you which one is for sure better for you as there's really no way to tell what those points will be worth in two years and it really depends how on how you're planning to use the points.

Thanks! What's better as of the way things are now? And can you explain why transferring to Marriot keeps my SPG points safe? Thanks!

It's hard to say without knowing how you want to use them, do you want to take domestic flights in coach? First/biz class international? Aspirational hotels?

If you transfer them to Marriott, they'll just stay as Marriott points when the SPG program is changed/gutted. If you leave them as SPG then we really don't what will happen but you should have plenty of warning beforehand so I wouldn't worry about that.

ETA: You could also transfer SPG to many airlines at 20000:25000

Thanks so much. I'm not even sure how I want to use them yet. Hence the 2+ years. Which one is better as now?

If you really don't know how you're going to use them, I would stick with FU
