And how many strikeouts? ;( the good and the bad on display in bright lights.
Which would explain why he's their third best hitting prospect. Bryant and Soler are better at striking out less... To be fair - Baez is learning a new position, and is also, apparently, learning how to take pitches, and is hitting for average... But yes, a lot of strikeouts...

Soler... Tom... I don't mean to sound dirty, but who doesn't like happy endings....

Hopefully this season will have one.

Phil Rogers wrote an article boasting of hitting in near future... http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article/chc/phil-rogers-cubs-adding-prospect-jorge-soler-to-display-case?ymd=20140826&content_id=91557982&vkey=news_chc
Has some flaws though... the main reasons for Bryant staying in AAA until next May were wrong as I-Cubs aren't making playoffs and real reasons are 40 man/service time/Boras being his agent/not ready with fielding yet. Either way his point that having 6/7 insanely good under age 25 hitters with $ to blow, if needed, makes for some really exciting ball coming soon...

Seems that the front office is doing a great job, maybe we'll never have to learn...
Nice first at bat.
+1
I think most of the AB's in his short (minor league) career were nice...which is why I said...
Baez who acc. to some is the teams' THIRD best hitting prospect...

Yay. Here goes another season. Wake me when its over.
It's not over, but you should wake up now, as they're in middle of segue from the rebuild (and multiple 90+/100+ loss seasons) to becoming a dynasty...

I have not watched them this year. Are they like in second or third? How many games over .500?

Since May 15th they are one game over .500, but this year isn't about the record it's about development... To this point they have never had Rizzo, Castro, Soler and Baez in the same lineup - let alone Bryant...
Check out stats for Arietta 28, Hendricks 24, Castro 24, Rizzo 25, Soler 22, and minor league stats for Baez 21, Alcantara 22 and Bryant 22. The bullpen core of Grimm, Ramirez, Strop, Rondon, who are all young too are all under team control for a while... They do have the $20-$25 million to sign an ace and still have a very low payroll...

Not excited about their last 6 games, but aren't you excited that they're playing 2 games in Cleveland next year?
(sshhh maybe they want/need a higher draft pick next year as well, so it's actually good if they lose this year)

DO ?
Chances of it working out are slim, but if I can go to a game with family and the other will have a DO I'd be a happy camper - especially if the next year Cubs play to their talent level (which would be either leading the division or close)...

How does this translate into next year? What should we expect from them next year? Better than .500?
