Received an offer in the mail from Discover, $50 for opening a new account minimum funding $25. Offer valid till October 31 for new customers who haven't had an account with them in the past 90 days.

Go to www.discoverbank.com/mychecking50

You will not see the offer on the first page but later it will say about the opening bonus. If you already have a Discover account no need to fill out any information.

Avid Reader is wrong, this deal is for Discover cardholders only, as it says clearly in the FAQs, in the first question under "Opening an account".

I guess I can try, my credit is frozen. What are the requirements to get the bonus?

I like the free external acct transfers and the free incoming wires.

Also, free expedited bank checks, I wonder if you can send these to 3rd parties too...

Tried and succeeded with my personal Discover acct, didn't really see the details of the $50 offer.

Fastest acct opening ever, 5 minutes and done, most of the info they already had from my Discover acct.

Just spoke to customer service and this offer is only for card members, not all card members are eligible but if it allows you to open an account you will get the bonus, if you are not eligible you will not be able to open an account. Also there is no credit check when opening an account. Discover bank customer service 1888-204-8987.

Opened account in under 5 minutes. Deposited the minimum - $25. Confirmed with rep that I will receive $50 4-6 weeks from October 31. She also said no hard pull (not like reps can always be trusted but my Experian is frozen anyway so let them pull away...)

Went through the whole process. No mention of the $50, only of a 'bonus.' I called and confirmed that i will be getting $50.

I also "called and confirmed" that I would be getting $50 bonus. But I also sent a secure message (sent message 1st but took too long for reply so I called) and was told I would NOT be receiving it. When I wrote back with agent's name that told me I would get it they replied that they were sorry but upon review you only receive bonus if you got the invite. So unless you got a letter/email from them don't expect the bonus
