Google voice with obi is dead as of 5/15/14 (Decree Nullified 9/11/14)

had anyone in Lakewood use the obi in the past with Verizon internet? Were the calls clear? Because I was told by Verizon that I can't get more than 3mbps in Lakewood

So don't use verizon! but I think 3mbpsis enough for VOIP

Using it in Lakewood for the past 2 years on Optimum without a problem...

I've been doing it no problem, no charge. Though now I see where the terms sort of imply otherwise (thnx ybeeds), it seems to be fine if ur gv number is us based..

Was wondering if I want to keep my current landline phone number I have with Verizon can I port my number to Verizon wireless, on a new phone plan, then port to gv, and than close my Verizon wireless plan, or would I have to keep that plan open in order for gv to work?

Once GV has the number you could close the other stuff. You're only using verizon wireless to port the number over to GV.

But why use Verizon Wireless and a new plan to make the transition, any used phone on a prepaid plan should work.

I didn't necessarily mean a plan, my q. Was more do I need to keep the line working once I ported the number. Thanks

I set up this Obi with my Google voice
but it only works for outgoing calls
do I need to cancel my Google voice from being fwd to my cell then it will ring on the Obi phone
if this is the problem is there a way around this to have it ring on my cell and also on my Obi phone?

you can have it forward to multiple phones/numbers...

You probably need to set it up to ring to Google Talk.

I am having trouble resetting up my obi with my verizon modem. I cancelled VL a couple weeks ago.

Now i plugged in my obi and i get an billing error message from VL when i try calling out. i went into obi and reconfigured and connected to google... still getting the message. any ideas?

Update: I setup the obi and google voice From Israel and it is free, not charging per minute as was thought

It happened to me, but I didn't find the source... I just started again from scratch...

What does that mean from scratch? Resetting all your devices or starting a new Obi and/ore GV account?

IIRC Obi has a troubleshoot for just this problem. Go to your account page and look around

ETA: Unsync your google voice account and when you reconnect it should troubleshoot this issue

Every address can be different. Call Optimum, Verizon etc. to see who provides in your area...
