I have a free anniversary night coming up soon. Looking to spend 2 nights (will use pts also) in a really nice hotel within 4 hours of NY. Any recommendations? Most IC hotels look old.. I'd like something more utd.

Thanks

Now that you can use IHG points and free nights at Kimpton, you might want to check those out. They're top notch.

Does anyone know why some hotels with rooms don't allow you to use the Chase night? Are there official capacity restrictions/blackout dates somewhere?

There are black out dates and hotels only need to take 5% of occupancy on points

To answer my own question to benefit everyone else. Only until I got to the check out page did they IHG tell me I can pay the whole thing with points.

IHG launched a new status you can buy for $200 or 40k points (bad value for points):

https://www.ihg.com/intercontinental/hotels/gb/en/ambassador/join?offerId

TL:DR- Free weekend night (on 2nd night of reservation - looks like 1 per year), guaranteed 1 tier upgrade, and extra snack/drink credit.

Anyone have more details on it? Could be a good deal if the weekend night is per stay, as opposed to annually.

IHG Elite Status
Extra benefits only apply at IHG hotels.

not new at all. cert is not per stay and requires usually a higher rate for the first night.
