Ouch!

Two in a row with Chase.

At least this isn't that bad...

It's pretty bad. Park Hyatts are no longer as attractive as they were. And several NYC hotels went up a category :(

A bunch of them went down as well, although that's probably for PR reasons only.

What does everyone expect? The amount of churning these past few years have been unprecedented. Me thinks American is next.

How is 36%-46% increase at their signature hotels not so bad?

Because their rates weren't high to begin with, so even an increase in rates (points devaluation) is not that devastating.
Changing switching property categories is a different story, something that happens each year with Hyatt and all other chains. It has nothing to do with points devaluation, they just reevaluate all the properties each year based on demand, popularity and feedback among other things.

I tend to agree with you this was an undervalued program to begin with. Either that or we got too used to bad devaluations.
Chase took a massive hit this week wow.

Even bigger part of the deval:

Instead of 6,000 points for a suite upgrade on a paid stay up to four nights, it's 6,000 points PER night now.

Also, Hyatt Lex 48 is going up from 5 to 6 and Andaz Weho is going from 4-5.

That's bigger?

First of all that's only good for the HDR. Who pays HDR?
Second you can get suite upgrades really easily with Hyatt thanks to them being included when you status match (and people here even give them away for free) and those are good with all discounted room rates.

More like nothing in my book.

I take back "bigger." Sure, it's not bigger than increasing the PHP by 36%.

But it's worth mentioning.

NIMO. Which is why I didn't :D
Then again I've never paid HDR and never didn't have suite upgrade access.

How is Hyatt Place New York becoming a category 5??

Has anyone stayed there? Is it that nice or just due to location?

It's all based on room rate.
It's a hotel, nothing fancy but clean and very good free breakfast.

I don't understand how the rates are so high. They are showing as higher than the Andaz, Grand Hyatt...
