16,000 Thank You points on citi checking account
« on: July 16, 2008, 12:50:27 AM »
I saw this on their website, the account however is not free, they'll charge you $9.50 a month w/o a minimum balance. Just wondering if anyone can say whether its worth it or not, i guess you can just cancel after you get the sign-up bonus.

Also, don't be fooled by the website which makes it seem like its available on any account, I called up they said only the citibank account, everthing counts and gold.

Anyways, that a lot of thank you points.

Here's some small print you can't find on the website (i think its still worth it though...)

-Offer expires 7/31
-You have to deposit $1,000 by 8/30 (7/31 for in-the-branch openings)
-Within 60 days of opening the account you must make 1 direct deposit, 2 electronic bill payments or 5 debit card purchases each month, and only 120 days after that will the points be deposited in your account (and you'll have paid them $60-$70 in fees by then)

I think that thank you points are a way to go i booked a ticket to israel for august that cost $1552 (on expedia ) for only 80,000 thank you points and no fuel surcharge (as apposed to matmid points and others my frend paid $400  :'(for a FREE TICKET WITH MATMID) just $75 in taxes

if anyone can let me know of a better way of using thank you points please post (ie. if transerable to use 50000 on alitalia or partners )

I have a bunch of Thank You points through my regular Checking account relationship with Citi.
Its nice to know that they can actually be used for something.
