Took this sunrise in Great Smoky NP this Chol Hamoed. This kind of light happens far more often during sunrise than sunset.

A sunrise shoot would be amazing. Sunset simply can't compete with the glorious light, and water looks much better, too. My Iceland trip ain't happening in the end, so taking Monday off shouldn't be an issue.
Sounds like a plan to me.

January is definitely much better for me, but I can probably make that work if need be.

I need time to plan locations me figure out details. Also, next week will have a full moon, while the 5th will have a (fairly) nww moon. Much better chance of night photography should the weather cooperate.

Night photography works better without a moon?

Sure. The moon will wash out most stars. The less moon the more stars you see.

Didn't you say there's a 10:50? My computer is in a million parts now (changing motherboard and processor) so I can't check properly.

Yes.
There's also a 12:25 to LGA and a 12:20 to JFK.

There are later flights as well (5:30 and later)

Sunrise 7:53, nice light till 9:30ish, 30-60 minutes back to CLE. I think 12:20/25 makes the most sense.

I think if someone asks that again they should be disqualified from coming

You don't 'have' to bring anything specific, you can bring your father's old Polaroid.

That would work much better for me if it's equal with everybody else. Going to be really tough to do 1/5.
Plus, I can bring some homebrew if I'm coming directly from home.

For people who would like to use a better camera, Best Buy has a decent lending policy as long is it doesn't get damaged and you keep all the accessories ;)
