can you explain why the 'look' of the 2 photographers are significantly different? is it only due to the different cameras used?

It's both the camera and settings (exposure and white balance). WhYME's is a bit darker and a cooler color temperature, while DtB's is brighter and warmer. DtB was also using a full-frame camera with much better dynamic range, so he has a greater range between the brights and darks.

ANd @SF i love the pic over jackson lake. I just read up in photo digital (or one of those mags) about an hr lapse shutter, for the night starry nights.

great improved skills since then. A tripod has a lot to do with the quality, as well. (That one was hand held? an iPhone?)

Also, whYME's first one was taken at the first spot we went to. I think my pictures from there are better than those I took at the second spot. I just have to convert those.

Yeah, I improved a lot in 5 minutes :)

That one was a quick snapshot taken while trying different angles/views. IIRC it was actually attached to the tripod, but I was holding the whole thing, it wasn't resting on the ground...

Truly stunning photos even without the clouds. Just curious, what's that white skyscraper in the center right in the background ? Is that new ?
