I would like to book an F award ticket on CX but there is only J available now to be confirmed without wait-list, is there any possibility to confirm the J and request the wait-list for F or Wait-list for F while having confirmed J ?

And is there any way to avoid a redeposit fee ?

Looking to book CX with Avios/alaskamiles, NYC-YVR. Only see Business class available.

How soon before flight does First Class open?

Can I upgrade easily with avios afterwards if I book business, or should I wait?

Thanks!

What's the load on first class?

Sometimes it opens on Sunday night at 11pm EST before.

Looking for info and not finding much. It seems like they have good rates for AA for medium haul flights (transatlantic), if I'm understanding correctly. 22k OW in economy. Do they charge fuel surcharges? How hard is it to book? How long does it take to transfer from Amex?

 6 July 2023

I’m writing to let you know that our flight award charts will be updated for redemption tickets issued on or after 1 October 2023. This revision will include increases and decreases in the miles required to redeem flights with Cathay Pacific and our partner airlines.

Our award charts were last updated in 2018. Back in January, we committed to doubling the number of award seats available per Cathay Pacific flight this year as there were in 2019. As we continue to increase seat availability, we’ve decided to introduce the following changes after careful consideration:

A new flight award chart

View the revised standard award chart for Cathay Pacific flights below launching this October:

The Short distance zone has now been divided into two types:
•    Short - Type 1, which includes cities such as Beijing, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul, Shanghai and Singapore; and
•    Short - Type 2, which includes all cities in Japan, Indonesia, India and Nepal.
Additionally, the previous two Long distance zones have been merged into a single zone. More details can be found on our website.

Yours sincerely,

Paul Smitton

Cathay offers Bid to upgrade (plusgrade), or wait-list with award upgrade.

Which of the 2 has a better chance of clearing?
