Rather, you hate having to pay for someone safekeeping YOUR money and delivering it to you almost anywhere in the world at YOUR convenience!
Safekeeping? That's what the banks want you to think, they need and want your money.

Ah, darn it. I was debating whether or not I should post that on the off chance I'd be revealing the place of stash, which for anyone who knows you, is quite sizeable :P

For what, ATM abroad or Non TD? How do you know this, their reps are not aware of this.
Non TD

I have an HSBC premier account, Using a debit card from them does anyone know if I will be charged a FOREX charge in Israel, and what other benifits I get using this account.

First Republic Bank has free intl. ATMs (and free incoming wires), but they charge $18/mo. if you're below their $3,500 minimum.

Is it fair to assume they give a decent FX rate, or do I need to check? Anyone know of any other banks (not mentioned yet in this thread) that still offer this?

Anyone want to tell me if this makes sense?
I need to bring a lot of money to Israel .
i do not want to pay all the extra expenses to bring it here, and the possible tax issues.
i currently have 3 td accounts with 1 or 2 debit cards on each- one for me and one for the wife.
i switched all 3 to td premier accounts.
i take out the max (2500) shekel times 4 times a day (one withdrawal for each card)- times as many days as needed. i figure 3-4 weeks.

Second idea- Can i do a 3BM of atm companies- i.e. swipe the same debit card in 3 different banks machines one right after another and get more than the 2500 shekel a day limit? I once did it with 2 banks and it worked, want to know if anyone else might have any experience?
that could raise my amounts to 30000+ a day!
I spoke to td and told them i plan on doing some large amount of withdrawals- they had no problem with it and they notated my account!

All of this withdrawing activity might raise some flags.

I'll second AsherO's warning that anything done through the bank is ultimately recorded and visible to the tax authorities. not to advocate breaking the law but having it carried through in cash is probably safer. (you can also have friends carry up to the legal limit)

I wasn't just saying they record it. They have regulations requiring them to file Suspicious Activity Reports, I'm not sure what qualified as suspicious, but this sure sounds like it might.

If someone asked you the same question, what would your "spidey-sense" tell you?

When you say possible tax issues, are you referring to US taxes or Israeli taxes? These withdrawals from your US account could result in a SAR (Suspicious Activity Report) filed with a government agency that shares info with the IRS.

and the ATM owner would have no way of knowing that the withdrawals are from 1 person?
because that's where my 'spidey-sense' tells me the brunt of the taxes would be. IF that's true and the US banks don't have to notify ATM owners/Israeli authorities total withdrawals, then this Idea might be safer than carrying cash through customs.

If it's about Israeli taxes, I don't think he has anything to worry about, but don't come crying to me if I'm wrong about that.

I'm confused, are we talking about whether it's illegal or if he'll get caught?

Two very different inquiries, but it seems OP was asking about the former.

He kinda switched his question in the middle, if you're asking me.

Then perhaps he will clarify, because one can do a lotta things without getting caught, despite their illegality.
