If I book SQ suites standard, and then saver opens at a later point, can I get a refund?

The Vip service will get it done faster, but they still have to drive you to their lounge clear immigration and security and then get you there on time... so if you are delayed a few minutes you are done... I dont even know if they would take it for such a short connection
Google Vip frankfurt airport, you will find it. Its about 450 dollars for max 2 people

With the VIP and without luggage as long as the plane pulls up to gate 15 minutes before the next departure you'll make it, nothing to worry about

I disagree
If it's a connecting flight from europe, they have to clear immigration in germany as they are leaving shengen (thats the eu zone) they can only do that in the lounge... sq can close the gate 15-20 min before departure. 30 min maybe and that's really if all runs smoothly... worth risking a connecting ticket for that?

LH 400 opened up so I ended up taking that.

I wasn't willing to spend the extra $400 on this trip.
I remember when a coke was a nickel, and you could buy VRs in OD.

Trying to use SQ for JFK-SFO-HNL on UA. Connection is 4:44, so the phone agent is insisting on charging $100/pax for the "stopover" (it's a OW, so no SOs included).

Questions:
1- Any way around this charge, short of doing a RT?
2- If I pay and a direct or shorter connection opens up later, will they refund this fee?
3- The change/redeposit fees are per passenger or per reservation?

Call back and get another agent to do it

Told me it'd take between 2-3 weeks.

Said they'd try to expedite for me.

Want to post what tickets you cancelled? Perhaps they'll be released back into inventory.

I had a few times where I waited over a week for a redeposit, only to receive a phone call that that cancelation  fee was misqouted, and they have to charge me the correct amount, and only when I agreed was the refund processed...

What did they originally say the fee was vs. what it "actually" was?

Quoted the SQ refund, vs with partners IIRC $70 vs $35
