The last reason to pay for Centurion has left the building.

That's still pretty steep for gold status...

Yes, but you do also get mid-tier DL and US status and priority pass.
All that with CO made it arguably worth it.  Without CO it's much harder to justify.

I still believe that the only real benefit of it is the actual black card...apparently it opens doors in some circles...
...and if you keep it in your shirt or jacket pocket, it may deflect small caliber bullets
