Ipod issue
« on: October 09, 2010, 09:26:41 PM »
I just took out an old ipod classic (60gb) that was lying around, unused for a few years. When I tried to play songs, it just skipped through each song without playing it. When I connect it to my computer, I could play the music off it, so the music is still there. Any ideas?

Are the songs corrupt files?
Also on the comp does it show an exclamation point next to the songs (when ipod is not plugged in)?

I don't think they're corrupt.
Do you mean on itunes? I don't use that, but on regular Windows explorer it doesn't show anything wrong.

Bring it into an apple store and see if they can figure out what's wrong.

If you have all the music backed up on your computer, try deleting the music off the ipod, and re-sync it and see if you still have this issue

If its playing the first few seconds of each song it means that it thinks that the files are corrupt.

You can use the old tools like ephpod and ypod to rebuild ipod library file. I would backup it though before though.

Thanks everyone. I ended up just wiping the whole thing, and starting from scratch.
