Great question, Count! I bet you're used to seeing those boxes of Manishewitz for a few dollars a box at the grocery store.

What these guys are talking about is handmade stuff. Every phase of the process from reaping the wheat to kneading the dough is done the old fashioned way, no machines. It's a tedious process. Lots and lots of labor. If you could do it in China, I suppose it would be much cheaper. Hey! I just got an idea!!!!!
Still doesn't justify price.  It's expensive because it could be. Same as esrogim.
If you don't care why would you comment?

Or because people need to be able to make a living doing this

If you're referring to the owners the matzah bakeries,  they make more than a living.

+1 it is also a few week endeavor. They must do something else as well, unless this really is enough money for a year!

It is not a few weeks.  The actual baking starts chanukah time.

They are busy pretty much the whole year with it.

They need to get the flour, water,  supplies, etc.

I don't think anyone is actually making a killing of this, from speaking to someone in the know, supplies cost a small fortune. Ever checked how much a lb of shmura flour costs? Ever see how much gets thrown out in these bakeries?
They probably do make enough money in these 3-4 months to live off throughout the year but what do you expect? Try tell your boss that you need a 4 month vacation for religious purposes. You can't really have another job with this and the bakery needs upkeep throughout the year.

Not true . all bakeries in america and most everywhere reap with a combine . barring special order the grinding is machine as well . same with machine pump for the water. its only from the pouring of the water that its done by hand.

I only eat matzxah by seder, day meal, shabbat, moshiach seuda.. scam it is.

Just as I dont buy an esrog, I cant accept this gouging... look, if your rich and buy mehudar gasos tefillen I get it.. but dakos should not be more than normal wages... stop trying to get rich off normal folks working their butt's off trying to pay their bills and leading a frum lifestyle.

I dont get along with my father at all but a few things I recall that changed my life, he mowed the lawn and painted a shull in CH free and he always lectured us about "mamon hekedesh" I think I was wasting napkins in the shull?

You got 2 buck chuck, terrenal as we call it 5 dollar feivel.. judaic based items need to come down in price

Not sure what your rant is about but the gaon says you get a mitzvah for every kzais you eat so your really punishing yourself. Anyhow what's this moshiach seudah about  ? is it from menachem mendel or a previous rebbe ?

Not sure exactly what you are saying and your hate seems to at times cloud your ability to properly articulate your feelings.
Either way since you seem to be an expert in the scammy matzo production can you please share which part is the scam exactly?
I hate the prices just as much as the next guy but I like to have a clear understanding of what's happening before I get all riled up

Doesn't look like everyone's prices can be compared to one another. There are many types of matza (whether hand or machine), many companies and factories. maybe post prices on the type of matza bought (eg: shatzer , pupa, kerister,  satmar, chabad crown heights, chabad israel, jerusalem matza, Ukraine , mani, yehuda, strauss, rekusen, horowitz, hadar, geula, Boro park, lakewood, chareidim,  leibers, oat kastenbaum etc and even more....types are regular, WW, spelt and oat.) ..& some pple do hand , some do machine :)

Could you find a more respectful way to ask your question? I suggest that for your own dignity you edit your post, which I have truncated when quoting in order not to repeat.
