Organization methods for physical credit cards
« on: April 07, 2014, 10:28:49 PM »
Was just wondering what some peoples' strategies were for organizing the dozens (hundreds  ;) ) of cards we all have.

I personally am thinking about getting some baseball card holders that have a 3-hole punch for binder use.

Use google drive. And only carry the 2-3 cards you usually use.

I have everything in a spreadsheet.
bank, card type; primary (me or SO); card #; cvv; exp; credit line; statement closing date; date opened; AF, if waved 1st yr; bonus - if spend- by date

I carry 2 sets of cards. (granted in a pocket book that weighs a ton) The ones I use and the ones I need for specific spending.

Cool to see this thread come to life again  :D

I ended up getting a binder and baseball card holder pages with 9 slots/page from Amazon. I used dividers to group pages by issuing bank (Chase, Amex, Citi, etc.) and then alphabetically (Freedom before Sapphire, etc.) and some small, removable labels to name each slot so I could move them around when I get a new card. Another advantage is that adding more capacity is really easy.

It didn't really take all that long to set up, and now I'm really happy to have one place to keep everything organized.

What other methods do you guys use?

For informational purposes I use a spreadsheet that has bank, card type, cc#, security #, exp date, phonenumber on back of card, point currency, and misc information

Physically I store my cards in a binder business card organizer, each sheet is 2 x 5 and a pack of 10 sheets cost ~ $3 at Staples

I like that- maybe I'll add it to my spread sheet.

The physical cards I'm not carrying, and that includes just about any with my husband's name on it, is in a kitchen drawer.  It's the right depth for them to stand one after another.  More recent in the back for easy reference.  Periodically I go through the collection and run a black marker across the closed ones.

I use a couple of rubber bands.  Works great.  Inexpensive, and very easy to set up.

I bought the business card pages and my CCs wouldn't fit in them. I exchanged them for baseball card pages and now the CCs fall out if I'm not careful. I just don't move the binder very often and I'm okay. Still trying to find a way to put some tape or something in each section to hold the cards in place.

Reviews on the one i posted say it's good for CC. i have the baseball cards but they are very loose and fall out if I am not careful.  Since I only take them all out for SBS I prefer a tighter fit. I just ordered the business card holders from amazon. I'll update the thread when I get them on Tuesday

I'm assuming you ordered more than 1 pack. That only holds 200 cards.
