Topic Wiki

This is the thread for all random/general questions about Southwest. The official airline code for Southwest is WN as SW was taken by Air Namibia, but many people on the forums refer to Southwest as SW since no one talks about Air Namibia ever.

For questions about any of the SW CC's, see here.
For questions about the SW Companion Pass, see here.
For questions about auto-checkin to SW flights, see here. (Follow the wiki to learn how to set it up.)

It's worth taking a moment to fill out their feedback form to let them know that he improved your experience.  I have a friend who's a SW FA and he said that they make a huge difference and most people only fill it out for complaints, not the good things they do.
Never even knew they have a feedback form where you can write about a specific steward

Click on send an email on the left.  I just filled this out yesterday for a FA that was super helpful.   It could help his career and make his day and costs me 3 minutes...

trying to book a flights from NYC to SAN and according to the map there should be a non stop flight which is true for the month of july and first two weeks of aug. however I am unable to find non stop flights for the last week of Aug. does southwest usually add the non stop flights closer date to departure?

Seasonal flight only, along with EWR-OAK, perhaps ends in mid August.

For those of you that maximize GCs, Vouchers, Travel credit, note that they have quietly reduced the number of forms of payment allowed on a reservation from 4 to 3.   >:(   You can still be creative to combine multiple into one and then use it but it's more of a PITA than it used to be.

How can one combine multiple SW GC's into 1?

Does transferring points from a partner extend the expiration of miles?

My flight went down in price, so I cancelled and rebooked. I now have $10 of travel credit sitting under myself and my wife's name. How long do I have to use the credit?

I'd probably rather just use it for something quick instead of waiting till next time I fly SW (I fly them rarely). Can this be used for early-bird check-in or for an alcoholic drink etc?

I think the credit is good for a year, but they limit what you can use it for.

I tried to use a travel credit towards the A list/early boarding fee and they would not let me.

The flight details do, the pricing does not.

Being that there's no price pulling, the results will always be at the bottom when searching to any city.

Looking for info on airports on the east coast with cheaper flights to the LA area.

From research it seems that the most cost effective route is BWI - SNA (114 each way when not on sale) but without checking all the permutations (there are 5 LA area airports) I'm wondering if anyone has found a route from an East Coast airport to the LA area which runs cheaper.

Willing to go as far north as TF Green and south to IAD.

Thanks

If it is the first time, they did it for me, I just said I did not know the miles have an expiration date as in the past they did not expire. The rep was very nice and said she'll do it only this time :)
