Topic Wiki

This is the thread for all random/general questions about Southwest. The official airline code for Southwest is WN as SW was taken by Air Namibia, but many people on the forums refer to Southwest as SW since no one talks about Air Namibia ever.

For questions about any of the SW CC's, see here.
For questions about the SW Companion Pass, see here.
For questions about auto-checkin to SW flights, see here. (Follow the wiki to learn how to set it up.)

Southwest questions
« on: April 30, 2014, 10:35:56 PM »
It seems like there isnt a master southwest thread.
Is it more worth it to transfer 9K UR points to get to my allotted points needed or buy $100 worth of SW GCs at Lowes and get 500 points for it

Most SW q's are discussed in the SW threads in the CC board (for one reason or another). A quick search in this board would have found you a 2-3 general SW threads that were started, although they are not long. Why not just post your Q there instead of making yet another thread?

UR are valued at 1.6 so 9K=$144. The Lowes idea costs you $100 but gets you 500UR=$8. $100-8=$92. Makes more sense to buy the gc than to use UR even if you didn't get 5x points.
Then again, I've been known to unwisely use UR for things so I wouldn't have to spend money out of pocket.

I got the same. Wondering if they'll honor the bonus if my A+ account was empty.

I'd like to book an AirTran ticket on a Wanna Get Away fare with Southwest Rapid Rewards.
There are three flights per day on this route, two in the morning and one in the evening. I want to fly the evening flight, however only the morning flights are available for the cheap Wanna Get Away price, the evening flight is sold out.

Considering the lenient cancellation policy of Southwest, if I book an earlier flight and show up 20 minutes to the flight, what are the chances they'll put me in the evening flight?  Will they charge me extra?

TIA

They will generally charge you the dif in points which usually is like 36,000 points or more.

I've found it helpful when using my companion pass to book as two one ways.  It just gives you more freedom to change/cancel.

Nice news today. More SW flights added onto their schedule from Dallas. Some intro $79 and $99 one-ways -- some now, and some in the fall:

Not sure of the best place to post this - need an urgent response. My friend's grandmother is fading.

Can I safely book him using my SW points?

sure, I book friends/family all the time.  Once upon a time, he could have gotten a bereavement fare but those days are nearly gone.  I think Delta is the only airline that still has the program.

Just created a wiki.

The free hot chocolate on SW flights is Kosher. It's Nestle and has an OU-D as you can see in my pics and they didn't add anything else to it but hot water. I imagine they use the same hot chocolate on all their routes, but that's just an assumption.
