Q: How long do I have to cancel the tickets?

A: Officially 24 hours as per federal law and their website, but actually getting a refund seems to require a DoT complaint, so likely not worth the hassle of buying unless you’re sure you want to go. (Dan in DDMS comments)

Suggestion: Call the credit card BEFORE booking the tickets and pre-authorize the charges that will be in Russian Rubles. Other wise it will probably be declined as fraud.

"Most US credit cards will initially view these ruble transactions as suspicious and initially decline the charge. If you receive an email from your credit card company questioning the transaction and recognize the charge, it will then allow you to re-enter the whole order and would be approved the following time. Worked for me." (source on DDMS comments)

Transaero Airlines

My son and his large family (6 children, eight and under) are traveling Transaero Air thru Moscow, to Israel this summer.  Has anyone flown with them recently that can comment on their experience.

IIRC, that's the airline my friend flew to Israel last summer. He said he had a very good experience, and it was just like any other normal airline. The only pain was the fact that he had a very long stopover in Russia.

My brother flew them and had a bad experience... They did not turn on the ac from Russia to Israel... And lest you think that it was broken, business class was very cool

We flew with them this past summer.  Ka'h a bunch of kids.  It would have to be a real metziah (azoi vee yetzt) to do it again.    The tourist class tickets are without reserved seating.  With 9 seats (oldest was 8 at the time) was not pashut at all to sit together.  The service was reasonable.

decent all around- better service imo than some of the other low cost airlines... don't expect your tv's to work- don't plan on getting your stroller back in Moscow

i called the israeli number- they picked up right away and where happy to do it. Not sure if they speak english though. Was not really sure they speak hebrew either. They pick up in russian. But they were very nice.

I've taken the cheap $10 strollers that they let on the plane with you. It can't be bigger.
