How many card readers can I get?
We can ship you multiple card readers if you will have multiple phones attached to your EMS+ account. Please order the number of readers you need on the final page of the Sign Up form.
Why is the swipe rate different for American Express?
You can process American Express transaction through EMS+, but American Express swipe rates are set directly by American Express and vary between 2.5% to 3.9%. If you would like us facilitate setting you up with American Express account, please call our customer support team.
How does my customer get a receipt?
EMS+ will immediately send a receipt to your customer's email address. An optional printer/swiper device is available if you desire to print paper receipts.
What phones does the EMS+ app work on?
The EMS+ app runs on most Android and iOS devices. Download EMS+ from Google Play or the Apple App Store.
Are the credit card numbers encrypted?
Yes, The EMS+ card reader device has TDES encryption and no card numbers are stored on the mobile device. Card numbers are encrypted upon the card swipe and processed on the payment gateway. Once a transaction is entered, card number visibility is limited to the last 4 digits and the card type.
What is the difference between a SWIPED and a KEYED transaction?
A swiped transaction occurs when the magnetic stripe on the credit card is run through the EMS+ card reader and into the EMS+ app. A keyed transaction occurs when the credit card number is manually input into the EMS+ app.
Can you explain your pricing to me?
Swiped VISA, Mastercard, and Discover transactions are processed at a rate of 2.25%, that's it! No monthly fees, no commitment, no hidden fees. Plus, we ship you out a free credit card swiper that plugs into the audio jack port on your phone, iPad, or tablet. Keyed transaction are processed at a rate of 3.5% and $0.15 per transaction.
