float
Like I said once and done.  Went with 2 of my brothers in '07 and we all felt the same way.  It was cute to float, but not a place worth returning to.
The dead sea did manage to help me find cuts in places I didn't even know I had...burned like hell!
And I also managed to ruin the pair of Naots that I had just purchased.  Instantly corroded from the beach there.

Anyone else here care to chime in?
Is the Dead Sea something you did once and felt that you experienced it or is it a place that you would keep going back to vacation at and float again?

going into the dead sea at least for me was a one time thing, but the dead sea is a nice place to go especially in the winter to get some sun. there is really nothing to do there though.

Excellent place to get rid of metal evidence (see: talmud).

I was talking about the actual hotel.

@ Damax: if you want to invite me somewhere to show me what its supposed to look like, I'm in.

I would skip Eilat and Taba.
If you want a good beach vacation go to the Carribean or better yet Hawaii.
Otherwise tour the fantastic Golan Heights, or other parts of Northern Israel like Tzfat and its environs.
The Holiday Inn Tiverya is a great base (for a point accepting hotel) to tour the Golan.

Eilat's beaches are rocky, polluted, and not worth the 7 hour drive from J'lem, especially with $7/gallon gas.

I only regret that I still haven't made it to the Rosh Hanikra region of northern Israel.
Yes Rosh hanikra is truly beautiful. I hear that its even more special at sunset.
