It is a very very small place with one hill. Almost better off driving to Mountain Creek or Sterling Forest.
But that's not on a beginning level. Campgaw is not as small as you describe  it...

They do have beginning level areas.

Even looking at the trail map now, it still looks very small. IIRC, it is like 2 minutes maybe top to bottom.

-1. It is very small though they do have a decent snowtubing track. Go to mountain creek there are plenty of beginner trails and use http://www.liftopia.com/ for cheaper tickets and remember rentals will almost double your cost

Let me clarify, I was referring to THIS question "Can someone suggest a good Skiing place thats close to Monsey?  looking for one on a beginner level thats reasonable." my response was that for a beginner Campgaw is more then enough + close to monsey

Mountain Creek is about 25 minutes farther than Camp Gaw. For the extra drive time, it is definitely worth it.

I think it is better (10 min further than sterling forest). If you plan on going soon make sure you check if they are even open and how many trails. There is a greater chance that mt. creek will be open earlier in the season as they have much greater snow making capabilities

Are you taking lessons, or just gonna try to figure it out on your own?

Try on your own. If you really have trouble, then go for a lesson. You may be able to pick it up by yourself.
