Received this ring in as payment for work, wondering if anyone would be interested in buying it. The diamond alone is worth $6500retail, it's a 1.03ct D SI2 EGL certified, Non-enhanced.

PM me with an offer if your interested. I would like to get as close to $6000 as I can.

Blue Nile, to my knowledge the cheapest online diamonds source. I punched in the same details listed in the certificate and the cheapest diamond was about $6500.

Certificate says conflict free. I believe it was cut a polished in Israel.

Just so people know GIA certification is the standard on the industry. EGL certificate is less valuable.

I'm not so sure I would use Blue Nile as your price guide. Pretty sure most people on DDF "know" a guy on 42nd street where they would go to get a stone for a lot cheaper that Blue Nile.

Try seeing what a few diamond dealers would offer you to get an idea of what your "trade-in" value would be.

Also its egl and bluenile doesnt even sell that kind of report as it is not good for them
I asked if I should buy for investment I was told if egl then no at this price.
Only my thought. I may be wrong

For investment I wouldn't touch EGL, stay With gia. And if the price seems high make me an offer. I know realistically no one would pay $6500 and I'm prepared to go lower for the right buyer.

He wants to know how much the diamond was valued at in the context of his receiving it as pay. I think that is a very reasonable question to ask.

A Diamond is not valued by how much he owed me. A diamond is a commodity, and if he would like to have it independently appraised by all means take the cert and ask around. Make me an offer when you feel comfortable you are getting a good deal.
