How Many Points Did You Use For Your Trip?

i was thinking that we should start a thread that people can post how many points was used for their trip. for example if i have a x amount hyatt and x amount Amex points i can see which location can be in my "budget".  this thread should simply have breakdown, specifying amount and from which program. no extra details.

It all depends how long you are going for and what you are looking to get out of it.
No 2 "trips" will be the same.

to figure out a trip "budget" about how much is needed. or with how much you can make it work

There's a difference between a "trip budget" and a "budget trip" 

In the most general sense of things, this could be interesting.
Add 2 more questions  to your list, Time of Year and Amount of Days.
And link to Trip Report.

I think this thread can be good if it is answering specifically. This should not be a place to start questioning where one wants to go etc. Once you have the destination, post and see how people respond with ideas. I think people may lose interest fast if it is just doing all of the work for people.

Or rather no questions/answers/comments etc "at all", only post past experience trip and points details, and if anyone has any question or comment it should be asked in its dedicated thread.

But even HI, you can go with different airlines/points. So people would have to post what they did, not start spoon feeding every type of miles to use and how many it is.

I don't think people are going to be interested in doing that. There are many trip reports where people broke down what they used on what and where. Maybe this thread should just be a consolidation of those breakdowns.

But you just asked, "How can I get to HI?" I think that's too broad. You want ppl who actually went somewhere to write how many miles it took to get there.

Ok, anyone that has a good idea how to get this thread full of info? I think many people like me can really benefit from this.  I am looking to go on vacation. I know how many points from all programs I have. So I should just check this thread and see past experiences of what amount of  points costed other people for their trip. And then I can see if a location is doable with my point balances
