The blog is run by a Rav in Israel and I have no reason to think it's satire.
Is it beyond the thinkable?
There are quite a few lines in there that mark it as clearly satire...

Apple would've sworn the company to secrecy.

In that case, I guess I'm mistaken. I'll contact him to let him know.

Although I'm not sure what the videos of the rabbanim against IPhones has to do with this. Here in Israel, the source of all evil (according to pashevilim) is the IPhone.

Been playing around with a Moto 360 all day. Kind of neat. I can def see people starting to wear these. I don't think I will just because I don't want to feel THAT connected, but I know others don't always share that feeling.

"To alleviate the Shabbat concerns of the AppleWatch, and to encourage the large market of religious Jews who will rush to buy Apple's latest offering, Apple reached out to the Zomet Institute in Alon Shvut outside Jerusalem"

"Large market of religious Jews"?  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ROFL

"Apple reached out"? Keep dreaming.

Which religious Jews? The ones who hold annual iPhone smashing ceremonies? The ones who say that the iPhone is satan?

Let's say there are 1.2 million Shabbat-observant Jews in the world, how many of them would buy the Apple Watch? 50,000? Of those 50,000, how many wear watches on Shabbos? 20,000?

Apple sold 150 million Iphones in 2013, do you think they would "reach out" to a company and bend over backwards to support a small group of Orthodox Jews?

Yes, this is certainly beyond thinkable. So much so, that the person who wrote the article was trying to be funny.

Here are some links for your convenience:

http://www.jpost.com/Jewish-World/Jewish-News/Senior-haredi-rabbi-to-followers-Burn-your-iPhones

http://www.vosizneias.com/113589/2012/09/13/bnei-brak-rabbi-holds-iphone-smashing-ceremony/

Two totally different groups.
I agree that this seems to be satirical, but please, don't compare.

I like the watch face, but I can't stand the black bar on the bottom, and the watch looks so bulky and awkward from the side.
The battery has gotten bad reviews that it doesn't last an entire day.
The interface looks well designed and smooth. Though if the notifications are basically Google Now in a different display I know I will hate it.

I like the concept of a nice looking smartwatch, though I'm guessing the Apple Watch will repeat the mistakes of having a poor battery and being too bulky, so I'll probably have to wait a few more years.

Have you tried it? It's def not as big as it looks. I have smaller hands and was surprised how comfortable it felt and well it looked.
If bulk is your main issue I'd definitely give em a try.  Yeah, battery isn't supposed to be great. And there's a good chance the Apple watch runs better ..then you need an iPhone though.

Kinda nice just glancing at my hand when a buzz/ring comes through.

I can see where someone wearing a  Bluetooth often  would love a smartwatch.

I haven't tried it or seen it in real life.
I have small wrists so I don't like that it looks bulky in the pics/vids I saw.

I hope the Apple Watch squeezes more out of the battery, that's very possible due to having a much newer and better processor.
Decent battery is a must before I even consider thinking about buying one of these "accessories".

I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

Any smartwatches out there that can pass for a dressy/non geeky watch? Ones that don't look like smartwatches

That looks better but to me still looks like a obvious smart watch.

Thanks, the Huawei looks good, but I'm not usually a fan on version 1.0 of anything (except the OnePlus) and its a little pricy for essentially the same features as all other android watches that are significantly cheaper. Either way its only available for pre-order and I want it now
Went with the Urbane

Solid choice. I love croc brown leather band with gold face for the Huawei but can't see myself spending $700 for a smart watch

Did you ever find a good one? There are so many option.
I'm looking for one too. Minimally something that will give me distance traveled and potentially calculate calorie burn based on time.  Any other smartwatch bells and whistles are nice. Waterproof is nice but not necessary.
