Passport on Multi City on AA

Does AA require a passport on a Multi City route for the first leg? It's not booked as one flight with a stopover but rather a Multi City.

I'm not sure what you mean with the passport but if its a connecting flight then multi city doesn't mean anything, its only a tool to search for a flight.

Sometimes with Multi City tickets they consider the 2 legs, 2 separate tickets.

Its never two separate tickets. If its a stop for more than 24 hours then its not considered a connection, if its less than 24 hours it doesn't matter if you booked it with multi city or not, its considered a connection.
