$75 fee:

-21+ days prior to departure is based on the departing city time zone, not the booking city time zone.

EDIT: I managed to call in and have them waive the fee when it was within 21 days in departing city time zone but not by booking city time zone

UPDATE: AA has removed all close-in fees

I want to fly AA with Saver Award BOS-DCA-BOS in mid July.
Right now, no Saver available.
When, if at all, might I expect Saver to appear? A few days before flight?
Thanks.

I wanted to book a group flight for a wedding for 12 people from nyc to denver in late august using my american airlines miles. I am a gold member and I can only book 6 at a time online. I called the gold aadvantage number and they told me that they can only book 9 at once. How can I book all 12? Also is there any fee for the first checked bag? thanks

Make two reservations. American lets you make a hold on their flights (even award). If you don't know how to hold an American Airlines flight, google it and read how to do it.  Hold 6 seats. Than book the other 6 and go back and book the first 6 seats that you put on hold. If you hold the first 6 and than you see that there aren't enough seats left, cancel the first reservation and start over.

And use BA instead of AA for the flexibility.

Made an award reservation via AA (on CX and RJ) and put it on hold, pending points transfer from Marriott. It's been 5 days and points aren't showing up in AA account.

What's the best strategy? Can AA keep on holding the reservation until points finally post?
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

IME AA is only able to extend it if the seat is still available without your hold. If it's not than hopefully it will go back into inventory and you can place it on another hold.

Does the UA trick to avoid the $75 expedite fee work on AA too?

No, but you can book with avios, and no fee
