$75 fee:

-21+ days prior to departure is based on the departing city time zone, not the booking city time zone.

EDIT: I managed to call in and have them waive the fee when it was within 21 days in departing city time zone but not by booking city time zone

UPDATE: AA has removed all close-in fees

Does the UA trick work with AA for the $75 fee??

Flew TLV-LHR-JFK in J on BA/AA on 70k AA award

Just looked at my account and I was credited 2790 Miles/558 EQDs/3348 EQMs for the TLV-LHR segment on BA

Was there any change made to the ticket since the initial booking? If so, they may have re-booked you on a revenue fare.

NYC-LHR-MAN. Does the second flight cost additional Miles, or should the flights still be a total of 57.5k ?

AAward chart is Zone based, so flights from anywhere in the US48 to anywhere in Europe will be 57.5k (OW J sAAver).

AA Business class redemption JFK-LAX-BKK (Either via HKG or any other Oneworld destination)

1) Will it work for 70K?

2) If the stopover is more than 24 hours (by 1:30 minutes)

1. MPM for JFK-BKK is around 11k miles, as long as your connections don't exceed that by more than 25% you should be fine. You also have a maximum of 4 connections.
2. AA will only allow you to have a connection longer than 24hrs if the the next flight out is more than 24hrs after you land.

I was looking at flights for next Monday/Tuesday and last night there were (according to BA) 7 economy award seats. I looked at the seat map and there were 18 economy seats available. This morning (when I was ready to book) there were 0 economy award seats, but there were still 17 economy seats available. Anyone experience anything like that?

For now I'm booked in business (at twice the price) but I'm hoping by some miracle economy will open up. I booked two OWs with Avios so I can cancel either flight if economy opens up on only one. But I've never seen it go from tons of available seats to nothing like that.

I was under the impression that the amount of seats available doesn't necessarily correlate to the amount of award seats available

Probably not a good idea (or perhaps impossible) to book a child alone on a hidden city. Hopefully the award ticket is still cancelable.

if you book them as adult, no one will check and only have to get past security with first boarding pass.
If they check bags at gate- just have one of the other 6 ppl check it.

If it's still cheaper, scrap 1 of the adults tickets, and have them take the HC with a kid.

Thanks all.. Very much appreciated. will look for HC .
Just thought of another possibility but don't have experience doing it.
Can I book an award flight a day later when there is award space and show up and ask for standby the day prior ? Not sure how AA handles this especially on an international flight.
