Mini-Van Car Rental in Orlando in January
« on: December 13, 2010, 05:55:12 PM »
Any ideas how to get the best price on a rental in January for a Minivan? Minivans seem to be very expensive and harder to get a good deal on.

Priceline? Corporate Account?

Looking for suggestions.

They rip you off on the car seats and boosters too.

Thanks

You can save a bundle by using an IBM discount. Just need to find someone who has an IBM email address to use once. After that, you don't need to keep using it and it is well worth the small hassle setting it up. I have a friend who used to work for them years ago and he still gets the discount every time.

4 years now he's been gone from IBM and still gets the discount. No need to show a company card or anything like that. No liability issues because it's on his personal credit card, nothing to do with IBM.

when he said they dont care, who was he talking about? because if you crash the insurance company will care very much and WILL DEFINITELY try to weasel their way out of paying. btw they'll succeed

All the email address gets you is the discount, if anything happens, the liability is on you, not IBM. Just like you get a corporate discount on phone service for working for a company, same thing. If you don't pay the phone bill, it doesn't go back to the company, just you.

I am traveling 1/20/11 pickup around 11 pm from MCO. Drop off 1/25 around 6:00 pm.

Does anyone have any comments on using priceline or hotwire for a rental car?

Thanks

Also, just got a quote from thrifty for $334.75 including taxes.

Any comments on Thrifty and the rate?

Thanks

Five days at that price? Tell them they're a bunch of gonifs. Orlando is a tourist town but that is the off season and that rate seems a bit high. I think you could get it down at least another $50 overall.

This is including taxes for a minivan. I have yet to see a better rate. Anyone able to point me to a better rate?

Thanks to all for their input. I ended up doing Hotwire and got Hertz for $253.13 all included.
