If you have an hp 8610 printer DO NOT upgrade yet.

To save yourself frustration, don't upgrade to Win10 yet. Too many issues.

To upgrade to Windows 10:

Quote
GXN is a small utility that helps you upgrade your current Windows 7, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 Preview installation to Windows 10 RTM without any waiting or reservation.

This tool provides a few enhancements over the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft. As an example, GXN is able to identify and clean up temporary files from previous failed installation attempts, thus lowering the chance of setup not working significantly. GXN will continue receiving updates for the app itself and will always provide the most up-to-date copy of Windows 10 Microsoft offers.

These are the following prerequisites you need for GXN to work properly:

.NET Framework 4.5
Windows 7 or newer
An active internet connection
Administrator rights
Please report any bugs you've found using DMs on Twitter, @Whistler4Ever.

If you want to install Windows 10 on a computer that does not have an internet connection, use this:

Paste the following into your windows explorer:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\root\office15
What does it show?
It might not be there, depending on which version he has.
After the upgrade it looks like my MS Word just vanished. I can't open Word Documents and I can't find it anywhere. Do I have to buy a new one? >:(
Is it listed in Add / Remove Programs in Control Panel?

Excel and OneNote don't work either, when I click on them they open for a split-second and then crash.

Maybe this:
If you use Avast Antivirus version 10.3.2225, and you upgrade to Windows 10, your Office apps may crash when you try to open them.

Hmmm so I got Word back on my computer (HT to an anonymous DDFer. Thanks!), but now it's asking me to activate it.

I got Office with the computer (bought new direct from Dell) and registered it then but for some reason it's telling me it's not associated with my account and I can't find the product key either...

I used to use an amazing feature in windows 10 to block a family friends kids from accessing websites that the parents didn't want, this all worked beautifully in windows 8.1. Recently I decided to upgrade to windows 10, I figured that they had worked out all the problems, but when I went to set it up again. I ran into a problem, it seems like they got rid of the feature that you could block specific users from accessing all websites except for the ones you request. I did some research and found a page on the Microsoft website that says that they will be adding the feature back into 10 "soon"....now thats been like that forever....anybody have any ideas, for in the meantime or as a substitute?

I am considering reverting to 8.1,  Is there an easy way to do that?  Does anyone want to try and talk me out of it?

If you're within a certain amount of time since upgrading, you can revert with one click.

Why do you want to revert?  Usually a clean install of 10 will take care of all your issues.

How do I find that one click?

It could be my specs are a bit low.  I  have frequent freezing of the mouse pointer and or startmenu/search.

In windows 7 I had changed the color of the inside of the windows in applications like excel and word to a light green that was great for my eyes.

Per google this feature is gone from windows 10.  >:(

The best solution that I found is to do this:
Save the following as a text file and then change the extention to .theme
when clicking on it it works great for a while, but then randomly switches back to regular white.
Does anyone have any recommendations on how to get this theme to stick?

Quote
[Theme]
DisplayName=green

[Control Panel\Colors]
Window=219 238 1221

[Control Panel\Desktop]
TileWallpaper=3
WallpaperStyle=10

[VisualStyles]
Path=%SystemRoot%\resources\themes\Aero\AeroLite.msstyles
ColorStyle=NormalColor
Size=NormalSize

[MasterThemeSelector]
MTSM=DABJDKT

How about using a scheduled task to run it periodically?
