If you have an hp 8610 printer DO NOT upgrade yet.

To save yourself frustration, don't upgrade to Win10 yet. Too many issues.

To upgrade to Windows 10:

GXN is a small utility that helps you upgrade your current Windows 7, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 Preview installation to Windows 10 RTM without any waiting or reservation.

This tool provides a few enhancements over the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft. As an example, GXN is able to identify and clean up temporary files from previous failed installation attempts, thus lowering the chance of setup not working significantly. GXN will continue receiving updates for the app itself and will always provide the most up-to-date copy of Windows 10 Microsoft offers.

These are the following prerequisites you need for GXN to work properly:

.NET Framework 4.5
Windows 7 or newer
An active internet connection
Administrator rights
Please report any bugs you've found using DMs on Twitter, @Whistler4Ever.

If you want to install Windows 10 on a computer that does not have an internet connection, use this:

Been using it for a couple of hours.

As far I can tell this is basically going back to win7 (in terms of the start menu) - just with a cosmetic design change, with the addition of a very cool feature called Task View, which lets you have two virtual desktops.
Love me or hate me. I still love you.

Windows 10 Free Upgrade

Is it worth it?

Quote
You can reserve your free upgrade in the Get Windows 10 App. Once you reserve, Windows 10 will download when available, and you can cancel your reservation at any time.*

if you don't cancel does it automatically update?
is it reversible?

Thanks OP.  I'm in.  Anyone know the minimum performance specs for Win10?  I still have a PC running XP I'm trying to decide whether or not to upgrade.

It won't automatically upgrade. "You'll get a notification on your PC or Tablet when Windows 10 is ready to install". You'll then have the option to upgrade right away-which takes about an hour according to Microsoft- or you can defer the update to a later time.

"You'll get a notification after Windows 10 is downloaded to your device. Install it right away or pick a time that's good for you"

They haven't released it yet, and except for the start menu and new icons I didn't really find anything major on the beta yet.

unless you are willing to deal with all the issues any new OS has, wait at least 2 months after it's released before deciding
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

I agree.

Similar thing happened when an upgrade came to me from kitkat to lollipop. It royally messed up my phone. Nothing was working right anymore and I couldn't isolate the culprit. So I needed to format.. Now my phone works fast and smooth, but doesn't have so many apps n music as it once did.

I get a message that enever goes away to update, but I do not want to..  I don't trust the upgrade.

There are over 4 million ppl using it on a delay basis already for over 6 months. Im assuming they worked out all the issues. Task view and multiple desktops just for that its worth to upgrade.... And i dont see the downside. I upgraded already. It took me under 20 mins. And you can always go back to the old version(takes about 20 min as well)

New browser (edge), and cortana (similar to siri). I personally will probably wait a few weeks before upgrading my main work computer, so I can verify in a virtual machine that there aren't any major bugs/incompatibilities with the software/drivers that I use.

couldn't be further from reality

They always find tons of bugs when its released even after so many people are using it
